Early November, Deloitte Consulting visited FCG Consulting for a MPP Core Consulting Skills Workshop and networking session.
On November 11, 2015, a number of Deloitte practitioners visited FCG Consulting in the Great Hall at the Batten School. Among distinguished guests included three FCG alumni, including the co-founder of the organization.
Throughout the afternoon, we dissected how FCG adds value through its impact within the community. More specifically, small groups carved out what specific activities FCG performs as a consulting firm, and for which nonprofit clients in the community.
Using a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis, Deloitte practitioners facilitated a strategic thinking exercise that helped FCG members find potential challenges and areas for growth for FCG as an organization. FCG Consultants participated in a group discussion and voted on the top opportunities they would like to see the body as a whole pursue as we become a stronger presence in the Charlottesville-area community.
Following the SWOT analysis, FCG members networked with Deloitte practitioners and learned about the work they do for their federal-sector clients. In a structured networking set-up, small groups split into six tables with a different topic at each table. Consultants at each of these tables shared advice about life at Deloitte and their experiences with transitioning from Batten and FCG. Afterwards, our Deloitte guests sat on a panel where students got to ask other more general questions about career advice.
FCG would like to thank all event participants for a wonderful and productive workshop and networking session. The recommendations and opportunities identified in this very productive session will soon be implemented, and we are thankful for another great FCG event!
